In January, well known independent yarn dyer Erin Taylor Bell of "Mama E's C-EYE-ber Fiber" will visit the shop to lead a color class and yarn dying workshop the weekend of March 7th, 8th and 9th. Learn how to work with colors like an artist. Tthen roll up your sleeves, prepare your dye pots, and create your very own hand dyed yarn! his class is appropriate for all levels of knitters but spaces are limited to ensure that every student has the opportunity to interact one on one with Mama E!

Color Theory in Knitting
Saturday, March 8, 10am-1pm
Learn to maximize your color choices in you knitting using the basic principles of color theory. We will explore the interaction of value and hue and the effects they have in the knitted garment. If you love colorwork, this is the class for you! If you’re scared of colorwork, this is the class for you! (Colorwork skills not necessary... you can pick them up along the way!) Supplies for this class include odd bits of solid color dk/ww yarn from your stash (at least 8 colors or more), and a brightly colored photograph or postcard (art reproductions are best) and needles sized for dk/ww.
Techniques of Dyeing Yarn-- $95
Come learn the basics of handpainting yarn! We will explore the techniques of dyeing yarn for personal use.
- Do you want the perfect socks? Gather your ideas and dye them with Mama-E!
- Dyeing to knit Lace? We’ll do this, too. Be thinking of your shawl pattern and the perfect date night to wear your shawl!
- Are you baffled how to dye roving for spinning or other projects? Come learn how and have fun at the same time!
- Cost includes all your materials, including three skeins of yarn!
